Okay so now onto my post.

Valentines Day has quite a history. Across the world on February 14th people share chocolates, flowers, jewelry, and many other things ;) all in the name of St. Valentine…

Origins of Valentine’s Day: A Pagan Festival in February

While some believe that Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine’s death or burial–which probably occurred around A.D. 270–others claim that the Christian church may have decided to place St. Valentine’s feast day in the middle of February in an effort to “Christianize” the pagan celebration of Lupercalia. Celebrated at the ides of February, or February 15, Lupercalia was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.

To begin the festival, members of the Luperci, an order of Roman priests, would gather at a sacred cave where the infants Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome, were believed to have been cared for by a she-wolf or lupa. The priests would sacrifice a goat, for fertility, and a dog, for purification. They would then strip the goat’s hide into strips, dip them into the sacrificial blood and take to the streets, gently slapping both women and crop fields with the goat hide. Far from being fearful, Roman women welcomed the touch of the hides because it was believed to make them more fertile in the coming year. Later in the day, according to legend, all the young women in the city would place their names in a big urn. The city’s bachelors would each choose a name and become paired for the year with his chosen woman. These matches often ended in marriage. ~*http://www.history.com/topics/valentines-day*~

Wow maybe not as romantic as we all thought it would, huh? LOL. I don’t really ask for any gifts for Valentines day, too tell you the truth I would rather spend the money on my real passion BOOKS! I did however get flowers one year for Valentines Day from DH. It was back when we were teenagers and though they were plain roses it’s the fact that I got eleven roses and twelve stems that sticks in my mind.

Subject: Oops, did I do that????

It’s been a month, Ace, and you have yet to find and fire the one who wronged my friend. I have given you more than ample time and now it’s time for you to pay.

You are up against one hell of a computer chick. And Ace, I am holding your system ransom until you meet the demands.

I hope you don’t have important meetings you need to be in this week, because I just cancelled them.

Oh isn’t it wonderful how the world translates in 101011, LOL.

NO YOU CAN’T,

Your Local Vigilante

Oh, how good it felt finally sending that message. After a long night of hacking into the arrogant asshole’s computer system, she finally had the worm in place, and his system stalled. Sometimes, it paid to be one hell of a computer wiz and even one better, having software irreversible by anyone but herself.

Sure, it would be a huge inconvenience for both Mr. Griffin and maybe his secretary, but that’s as far as her vigilance went. Diane only wanted to make one man pay, so no need to hack the entire ARC main frame. Other employees should not pay for the failure of their boss, nor should the customers who pay for services needed.

Chuckling lightly she added one of the many pictures she had of a super muscled and super shiny naked man. The man was seriously too prude for his own good so why not add a little man candy in the mix? Plus it made her happy to imagine the look on his face as a man in all his glory playing with himself popped up every time he clicked the mouse.

Totally engrossed in what she was doing, Diane didn’t notice Tina standing in the doorway. Dressed in a black skirt with a yellow blouse, she had her hair pulled in a bun. If you didn’t know any better, you would think she was your ordinary woman, but Diane did know better.

What are you looking at?” Crossing the room, Tina looked over her shoulder at the naked man holding himself while leaning his head under the spray of his seemingly enjoyable shower. “Nice, where can I get one of those?”

1-800-HOT-DICK,” bringing a chuckle from them both.

You’ve been at it all night again, haven’t you?” Tina said, crossing her arms across her chest and glaring.

Always treating me like a kid. Yeah Mommy, I spent all night on the computer. But I swear, once I hit the pillows, I’ll sleep all afternoon.” With a half smile, Diane pushed away from the desk and headed toward her friend.

You better, I swear I have no idea how you go on as little sleep as you do. I would have migraines out the ass if I tried to pull that stunt.”

Luck of the genes, I guess.” Diane shrugged then hugged her friend lightly. Releasing her, she stepped back a couple of steps to continue their conversation. “When are you going to give your resignation?”

I will in a couple of weeks. We have some pretty big hitters coming in and I want to get them settled before I up and leave. It’s the least I can do before I leave them bereft an acquisitions agent.”

And a damn good one at that.”

Amen, sister.”

You are too kind to that man after the way he treated you.”

Just because someone else got the job as agent doesn’t mean he’s not a good boss, Diane. I sure don’t hold a grudge over what happened. And I have no clue why you would either.”

I just hate to see anyone hurt the ones I love.”

Oh, honey, I love you too but just let it go. It’s so not worth the trouble or worry.”

I can’t help but worry about you, T. You’re my family.”

You’re my best friend, and I would be so lost without you.”

I know. I am pretty fabulous.” Blowing on her nails, then on her shirt, she winked at her friend.

Chase was pissed. Not only could he not get into any of his files, but his email didn’t work unless sending to only one recipient. The tech guys from his IT department could do nothing to restore it but assured him that only his files were hostage, both were a relief and an annoyance. Obviously, he was the only target of this vigilante, and she was doing a really good job.

Even more pissed now than when first discovering the problem hours ago, Chase shot off an email to his nemesis, satisfied in the knowledge that while he enjoyed a great lunch with his sister and best friend she would be squirming.

Subject: RESTORE MY SYSTEM NOW!!!!!!!

Listen, I don’t know who the fuck you are, or how the fuck you got into my system, but I want it RESTORED NOW. You can’t just mess with someone’s livelihood. You mess with me and you mess with the company. Not only are you screwing over your friend but also the people that work for my company.

I have no idea what started this, but if you don’t restore it, I will find you and have my lawyers so far up your ass you won’t know where you end and they begin.

YES, I FUCKING CAN,

Chase Griffin

Some say the past defines us, others say to forget it and move forward. For Jack McCloud, the past plagues him with what could and should have been. After the death of the only woman he ever truly loved, Jack finds that forgetting the yesterdays is harder then he ever imagined. Impossible, until one woman comes into his life and turns it upside down making him rethink where his future leads, and whether he really wants to survive it on his own.

Samantha Larsh, a single mother, only wants what is best for her and her newborn son. So when offered a job at ARC Management, she is elated at the opportunity to provide the life they both desperately need. One day, one job, and one secret later her life would be forever changed. Can the future handed to her by fate be enough for her to look forward to tomorrow, or is she forever doomed to live in the shadow of yesterdays ghost?

Excerpt:

His dream began with the sound of the surf reaching his ears, the sunlight gently shining through his closed eyes.

“Are you just going to lay there?”

Peeking through his lashes, he saw Tina. “I was working on my tan.”

“As if you aren’t already too good looking. The last thing you need is a tan.”

Grabbing her hand, Jack pulled her down on top of him, holding her to his chest. “It’s been a couple of months. I missed you.”

“You know I have places to go and people to see.”

Reaching up, he tucked a piece of her auburn hair behind her ears. “Too busy to haunt little old me, huh?”

“Never!” Leaning down, she kissed his mouth, running her tongue along the seam of his lips, asking silently for entrance.

Jack pulled her tongue into his mouth and sucked on it lightly, at first, then more forcefully. Running his hands up and down her bikini-clad body, he reveled in the feeling of her skin beneath his hands.

Pulling away slightly, Jack looked up to her face as the sun shown behind her, giving her the appearance of having a halo. Tears shown in her eyes, making him wonder why she was so sad. They were on a beach together, nothing could be better.

Reaching up, he brushed the tear from her cheek. “What’s the matter darlin’?”

“I’m going to miss you so much.”

“What are you talking about? We always have tomorrow.”

“I can’t keep coming to you, Jack. It’s time you move on. I want you to be happy.”

“I won’t be happy without you. I can’t be happy without you.”

“Yes you can and you will. Promise me you will move on.”

Turning his face away from her, he watched as the surf receded into the sea. Feeling her small hand cupping his cheek, he allowed her to bring his face back to hers.

“Please, Jack, for me.” A tear ran down her cheek, hitting him just below his nose and running down his lips.

Licking the tear away, he ran his hands up her arms to the back of her head, pulling her down to meet his hungry lips. Kissing her with every ounce of love in his body, he couldn’t stop, like a man possessed. Never leaving the kiss, he rolled over on top of her, her back in the sand.

Pulling away from her mouth had been about the hardest thing he ever had to do, but he couldn’t resist looking into her hazel eyes. “I can’t promise, because I never want to break a promise to you T. I will try my best… that I can promise you.”

“That’s all a girl can ask for.”

“I will never stop loving you, never.”

“I’m not asking you to. I believe there is enough love in your heart for more than one though.”

“I seriously doubt it. No one is you Tina, you’re the one I need and want.”

“I know but sometimes, the heart knows what it can and cannot handle before the brain catches up. Trust your heart baby, it will never steer you wrong.”

A loud beeping sound seemed to come from the waves, getting louder and louder with each beep.

“Its time for you to go, I love you. Always have, always will.” Kissing him, she disappeared in front of his eyes.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Reaching for the alarm clock, Jack pressed the snooze button and sat up in bed. Blinking to clear his eyes, he could have sworn he saw Tina standing in the corner of his room, waving goodbye.

“I love you, always have, and always will.” Jack smiled at her as once again she disappeared, leaving him to stare at the empty room.
